Traci Vaspol from The Stitchery will cover casting on, knit stitch and pearl stitch, plus plenty of hints and tips to keep you going. Please bring US size 10 or 6 mm wood or bamboo needles if you have them. Yarn will be provided.

She credits her mother Wilhelmina Shaw who taught rug hooking at Swinburne School for over 25 years, for introducing her to this wonderful and creative hobby. Over the years, Roberta’s mother tried to get her interested in the hobby without success. Then as Roberta was cleaning out her mother’s basement in 1986, she found a little stool. Kenneth Gloss, proprietor of the internationally known Brattle Book Shop in Boston’s Downtown Crossing section, will give a free and open talk about the value of old and rare books. Ken, who is also a frequent guest appraiser on PBS’ Antiques Roadshow, will talk in part about the history of his historic bookshop (www.brattlebookshop.com), which goes back to circa 1825. He is a second-generation owner.
