You have the day off today, so why not come over to the Library and make a fun t-shirt tote bag? Perfect for yourself, shopping, or as a gift just in time for Christmas. For teens in grades 6-12 only. Event will take place in the Teen Area.
We invite the friends, family, and local supporters of those who submitted their works of Fiber Art to join us for an opening reception after-hours at the Library. (The library will be closed to all services).
Refreshments will be served while the community appreciates the works of its members - from knitting, sewing, crochet, embroidery, cross-stitch, etc., - enjoy the efforts of all ages in sharing their love of the Fiber Arts. Born from our own Fiber Arts group here at the Library, we hope you enjoy the fruits of everyone's labor as much as we do.
Are you ready for a little un-friendly, spooky, creepy, Halloween competition? We invite Teens in grades 6-12 to submit their own horror story - the catch? It can only be two sentences long! The entries will be posted in the Teen department (anonymously) so all can enjoy the submissions, then a winner will be declared on October 27th at 4pm! The winner will receive the Halloween basket on display in the Teen Area. Please be original, and no copying of other stories found online! Make it good: One entry per teen.
After a brief hiatus to restock and regroup from Summer Reading .. our teen book boxes are BACK! These are only available to those in grades 6-12. You can fill out a form in our teen department with your reading preferences/dislikes, favorite types of candy, any allergies, etc., and we will curate a personalized book box just for YOU!
Please give our librarian staff at least one week to curate the boxes - demand is high most of the time.
Take and Makes are back for 3 weeks in September! This last week, come in starting on Monday and grab a Chopped kit for you to make at home. There will be secret ingredients inside, and you have to make your own foodie creation with the contents! Email pictures of your final product to teens@portsmouthlibrary.org or tag us on IG or FB. Kits are ONLY for those in grades 6-12, and only one kit per teen is allowed.
